Dr. Andrea Carlson of Southlake Animal Hospital explains, “Your traditional veterinarian may not recommend CBD for several reasons. These include:



  1. Not being aware of the benefits.

  2. Afraid of recommending CBD because it was previously deemed illegal.

Despite these obstacles, many veterinarians have seen the benefits of CBD firsthand in their practice. They say that.


Mostly positive experiences


Like many veterinarians, Lauren Beaird, DVM, began her career as a "very traditional practicing veterinarian with nothing I could recommend outside of standard Western medical treatments," she says. When customers asked about CBD, “I couldn't answer their questions and lead them to helpful answers. It certainly took some time and effort to educate me about the use of properly sourced, extracted, full-spectrum organic hemp oil for pets. She even uses it on her own dog, who suffers from separation and noise phobia. "While hemp is not a panacea, it is always part of my treatment plan recommendations for pets with chronic illnesses or inflammatory diseases," says Dr. Beaird.


Paul Rowan, DVM at the Center of Animal Healing, claims CBD oil helped his patients reduce seizure activity. CBD oil has also significantly reduced cancer and tumor growth.


"We were sold on CBD products after a long-time customer of ours whose dog is always covered in weird wart-like spots on his buddy that we never really got rid of, started using CBD ointment," says Dr. Rowan. “After a week of use, the stains have changed and are flattened. A few weeks later, after continued use, the stains were gone. "


Dr. Rowan is now incorporating CBD products into almost all of his patient's treatment plans.
